Spain: the administrative authorization granted to Renault to use partial unemployment angers unions

The Ministry of Labor allowed the plan for temporary employment regularization (ERE) presented by the French car manufacturer. It will affect Renault's four Spanish factories and 10.311 employees. The administrative authorization approves the guidelines of the plan presented by the company but reduces its scope. Unions are protesting and threatening to object to the authorization. Thus, for the carriage works and assembly plant of Valladolid, partial unemployment (see our dispatch No. 081033 for detail on the system) will last 50 days maximum per employee, as opposed to 60 initially demanded by the management. Concerning Valladolid’s motor unit, and the Palencia and Seville factories, partial unemployment will last for a maximum of 24 days per employee, as opposed to 30 initially demanded by the management. This working time reduction will last until May 31, and not July
