Spain: the civil society mobilized on September 15 against austerity

The second social summit, supervised by the UGT and Workers’ Commissions unions and made up of representatives from over 150 social organizations, presented the program for the march called in Madrid on September 15 against the government’s austerity measures.  They claim that the government’s cost-cutting policy is changing the social model in a “less fair and equalitarian,” more authoritative way.  The organizations present at the social summit are some of the key unions, representatives from numerous professional associations and consumers’ associations.
