The European Parliament presses the Commission to deal with the issue of restructurings

During a debate at the European Parliament on General Motors’ decision to close its Portuguese factory of Azambuja, European deputies adopted, on July 6, a resolution asking the European Commission to adopt a more determined strategy in order to manage industrial restructurings and their social consequences. European deputies are putting more and more pressure on the issue of restructurings. After the adoption of the Cottigny report (see article n°06257), last 15 March, asking the Commission to deal with the issue, the Parliament adopted, on July 6, a resolution submitted by the EPP-DE, PES, ALDE and UEN groups.
