EY, UK-based the professional services giant, has introduced a system of paid leave for its employees in the country that suffer from domestic violence. The new policy forms part of a vast campaign on the issue, which also includes the distribution of an awareness-raising guide for its 14,500 employees in the UK.
Figures from 2017, from the UK’s Office for National Statistics, indicate that one out of every four women and every six men are victims of domestic violence in their lives. Meanwhile, three out of every four victims are targeted by their partner during their professional career. In light of these shock figures, EY decided it was necessary to act, launching a campaign to raise awareness among companies of the issue of domestic violence, entitled Everyone’s Business, at the start of this year.
