United States: 150 companies oppose anti-gay legislation in Florida

The “Parental Rights in Education” bill recently passed in the state of Florida has come up against strong opposition on the part of 150 companies, which have signed a letter penned by the Human Rights Campaign. The bill, which was passed by Florida’s Republican-controlled state legislature on 8 March, now only needs to be signed by governor Ron DeSantis. Dubbed the “Don’t say gay” bill by its critics, the law will ban discussions on sexual orientation for pupils aged between 5 and 8.

The letter from the Human Rights Campaign, which has been circulating since 2020, has been signed by the likes of hotel groups Marriott and Hilton, the department store chain Macy’s as well as American Airlines, AirBNB, Amazon, Oracle, Gap, IBM, Intel and Levi Strauss.
