It is a well-known fact that Donald Trump the businessman and the trade unions are not the best of friends. However how will their relationship develop as the President-elect has to implement a program that in some ways matches workers and unions expectations? In a similar fashion what can businesses expect from their relationship given the content of a certain number of the measures the President-elect has announced.
At first glance, US President-elect’s intentions appear to be a foil to the unions. Announcements to abrogate several of the Barack administration’s and ‘archaic’ social regulations, and Obamacare don’t necessarily sit well within the union agenda (c.f. article No. 9915). Yet, Donald Trump won the vote in heart of the industrial movement including the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin and trade unions are looking to the new Republican administration to improve their lot.
