Vodafone launches initiative to support jobseekers during the pandemic

UK telecommunications giant Vodafone announced on 8 April that it has extended its plan supporting those who are unemployed, which was first launched in the UK at the end of 2020. The initiative, devised to help people stay connected, now offers cut-price mobile plans, free data and even online training courses to job seekers living in Europe, Turkey Egypt and South Africa. The scheme is in line with Vodafone’s new brand positioning – dubbed ‘Together we can’ – which promotes the idea that new technology and society can join forces to create a better world.

When we approached Vodafone, the company did not indicate how long this scheme will last or how it intends to implement it in each country. Its press release only specifies that the group plans to offer jobseekers in Europe, Turkey, Egypt and South Africa discounts on its telephone packages, free additional data as well as access to job search portals, the use of which will not lead to any deductions from users’ data allowances, meaning they can visit these sites on an unlimited basis.
