Volkswagen: decisive negotiations on the restructuring of the group

On Friday, September 8th, 2006, negotiations between VW management and labour unions over the restructuring of the group will resume. IG Metall is ready to accept more working hours without wage compensation in exchange for definite commitments on the activity at the six German plants. (Ref 06851)

At a meeting with financial analysts which took place, on Monday, September 4th, in London, Bernd Pichetsrieder, CEO of VW, summarized the health and situation of the group, as well as management’s demands before the negotiations which will start next Friday in Wolfsburg. During the 1st semester 2006, Volkswagen sold 2.9 million vehicles, that is to say 11.9 % more than over the same period in 2005.
