World : ITUC creates Council of Global Unions, starts working on three joint initiatives

Following the creation of the International Trade Union Confederation last November, the latter created, on January 9th and 10th, together with the international sectoral federations and the ITUC, a Council of global unions. This is a new step in the structuring and functioning of the international union movement. It will start by working on three issues: trade union recognition and organizing, the "financialisation" of the economy and global public policies to fight poverty. (Ref. 070035)
