Miriam Forte, Director of Corporate Communication at Alibaba Group, told Global Retail News “We have no more than 100 Hema stores in China at the end of June 2019. We have no further news regarding new openings in 2019”. The company, also known as Freshippo in China, said it had previously expected to open 100 stores in 2018 and a further 1,000 additional units by 2023.
