Having stagnated in 2018, the Brazilian GDP recorded an unexpected growth in Q3 2019, up by +0.6%. This is a good news for the far-right President Bolsonaro, who aims to undertake major reforms. The agricultural sector grew by 1.3% in Q3 while household consumption grew by 0.8%, up from +0.2% in Q2. Household consumption remains a driving engine in the economy, as it accounts for more than 60% of the GDP. Growth was driven by lower interest rates and a slight improvement in the labor market.
