Carrefour is planning an I.P.O. of the Brazilian unit in May 2017, said Valor newspaper.

Analysts estimate that the I.P.O. should raise up to €3.5 billion. The banks J.P. Morgan and BofA Merrill Lynch will lead the operation. Carrefour will also list the property business Carmila (194 malls housing the hypermarkets, value of €5.2 billion), in which it has a 42.4%-stake.
