In mid-June 2022, the South African retail group Shoprite (2,933 stores in February 2022, under various banners including Shoprite, Usave, LiquorShop, Checkers Hyper, Checkers and House & Home) was the victim of a cyber-attack claimed by the ransomware gang RansomHouse.
