On 17th November 2022, Galeries Lafayette signed a franchise agreement with Indian fashion giant Aditya Birla Fashion Retail (ABFRL, 3,500 stores).
The chain will enter India in 2024, with a website and a department store in Mumbai, followed by a second store in Delhi (2025). As in Shenzhen, they will be small, at 8,000 sq.m and 5,600 sq.m GLA respectively. In Mumbai, the store will be located within a historic building, and in Delhi, in the DLF Emporio Centre.
