In December, Hamley’s opened its largest toy store in the world next to Tiananmen Square, with a sales area of 10,700 sq.m and five storeys. This 3rd Chinese unit, after those of 7.000 sq.m in Nanjing and 10.000 sq.m in Xuzhou, is twice as large as its London flagship. If Chinese parents tend to offer toys as rewards rather than gifts, Hamley’s hopes to export the Western spirit into China.
