Ikea U.S. manufacturing operations will move to Europe

The world’s largest furniture retailer Ikea will close the only manufacturing site in the U.S. (in Danville, Virginia) in December 2019, shifting the operations to Europe to follow lower production costs. This factory opened in 2008 and produces wooden shelves and storage units for the North American Ikea stores. Ikea runs more than 40 production facilities across Europe, China and Russia.
