Faced with tensions in the Red Sea, Inditex is stepping up air freight to ensure the safe delivery of shipments from Indian factories. The majority of shipments now go by air.
According to the Swiss based Public Eye NGO and Reuters, 70% of Inditex‘s (sales 2023 of US$38.9 billion, up by 10.4% in a year, net margin at 15% of sales) shipments from India to Europe transited by air over 8 months between January and August 2024, compared to 44% a year earlier. During the 12 month period at the end of August, the retailer made 3,865 shipments by air, an increase of 37% year-on-year.
