In 1943, (aged 17), Ingvar Kamprad created a mail-order company called Ikea, selling a range of goods from watches to pens, and he added furniture in 1948. Ingvar Kamprad, born on March 1926, in Älmhult, Sweden, died on January 27th aged 91. He opened the 1st Ikea store in 1958 as Sweden’s largest furniture store. Shocked by low sale prices, its local rivals pressurized manufacturers to refuse supplies to Ikea. As a result, Ikea discovered much cheaper furniture from Polish firms. T
