Investment group Haniel, Metro’s largest shareholder for over 40 years, sold 7.3% (of 22.5%) of shares in Metro to an investor group led by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky. As part of the sale, EP Investment can acquire Haniel’s remaining 15.2% stake under a ‘call’ option. Furthermore, shareholder Ceconomy announced it may sell most of a 10% stake in the German group.
