Present in both food distribution and banking, the diversified Elektra group is innovating with a new program offering 20% discount to customers shopping in Bitcoin in December 2021.

It is the 1st Mexican retailer to accept this digital crypto-currency. The purchases are operated by the US-based payment solutions provider Bitpay. In Q3, Grupo Elektra’s revenue reached US$1.74 billion, up 20%. In 2021, El Salvador adopted bitcoin as a legal currency, alongside the US Dollar.
