The Japanese home equipment retailer Muji signed a US$3.5 million joint venture deal with the local retailer SSI Group (shares of 49% and 51% respectively). This joint venture will own and operate the current 7 Muji stores in the Philippines and conduct further expansion. Via its subsidiary called “Store Specialists”, SSI Group is already the exclusive franchisor of Zara, Aeropostale, Samsonite and Debenhams in the country.
