Outlet retailing is booming in Europe

According to “European Outlet Shopping”, the 2nd annual report by Pragma Consulting (formerly FSP), the European outlet industry continues to deliver impressive growth. Despite the growth of online shopping, outlet centres have performed very strongly. This is especially true of outlet centres focused on luxury goods, reporting 46% more growth than the whole outlet industry between 2013 and 2017.

Since 2013 European outlet industry sales rose by 51% from €Euro 11.3 billion in 2013 to €16.4 billion in 2017, a rise of 7.8% per year. This growth is 10 times the general rate of growth in retail sales across Europe, reported as 0.8% p.a. between 2013 and 2017.
