In a curious twist of history, Covid-19 led to an increase in the use of plastic bags. Reusable bags were suspected of transmitting a virus. However, disposable, single-use checkout bags was considered safer. This belief led to increased use of plastic cellophane wrapping during the pandemic, according to a study by The Freedonia Group.
