According to the Department of Commerce, in the U.S.A., e-commerce accounted for 13.2% of total retail sales in 2021. This is lower than 13.6% in 2020.
The reason for this is that, last year, offline retail grew faster than e-commerce for the first time. In 2021, the total retail market increased by 17.9% to US$6,600 billion in sales. In one year, it grew by US$1,000 billion. Previously, it took seven years to reach such a growth, in absolute value.
