The California Attorney General announced on Wednesday 24 August, 2022, an agreement with cosmetics retailer Sephora to pay a US$1.3 million fine for failing to comply with the CCPA, the California data protection law that came into effect in January 2020.

The retailer is accused of not having managed and taken into account the non-consent of users to the “sale of personal data”, and of having made this data accessible to third parties for advertising.
