In 2017, Vietnam’s retail sales grew by 10.9% year-on-year to US$129.6 billion, driven by a rising middle class, an influx of international retailers and a 6.3% G.D.P. growth in 2017. In the food sector, Central Group is Vietnam’s largest grocer with the Big C supermarket chain, but convenient retailers are making significant progress to win a share of the cake.
