According to Valor International, Wal-Mart said it was considering options for its Brazilian retail business. It could sell an 80%-stake to the private equity firm Advent International for a value ranging from US$2 to US$2.2 billion, retaining the remaining 20%. Luiz Fazzio, former President of C&A-Brazil from 2002 to 2009 and of Carrefour-Brazil from 2009 to 2013, was invited to head the business and Advent would have already finished the due diligence phase.
