It is another private investment company. They follow two previous owners, the private equity groups KKR and Lion Capital. The Belgian buyer, named Core Equity Holdings, was created in 2017 by former Bain Capital executives and targets companies in need of major restructuring. For Hema, it has signed a takeover deal of €1 billion, which still requires formal agreement. Hema’s decoration retailer, whose long-term debt reached €750 million in late 2017, posted an improved profitability recently.
