Eager to boost domestic consumption at 64.5% of China’s G.D.P. in the first 9 months of 2017, Beijing will cut import tariffs from July 1, 2018, on a range of consumer products. For clothes, footwear, hats, kitchen supplies and fitness products, import tariffs will be reduced from 15.9% to 7.1%. For cosmetics, import tariffs will be cut from 8.4% to 2.9%. This import tariff reduction will be applied to imported wholesale goods.
