Argentine president Javier Milei’s flagship bill has cleared the Senate after a series of amendments and should be debated in the lower house on Thursday, against the backdrop of a general strike.
Following its approval by the Senate on 12 February, the flagship labour reform of Javier Milei’s government is moving forward and is expected to be debated by deputies on 19 February. Senator Joaquin Benegas Lynch, a member of the president’s party, defended a reform that he described as “synonymous with progress” and a break with a “statist, corporatist, and patronage-based model that has scared away investment, destroyed jobs, and impoverished millions of Argentines”.
