The news. The Fair Work Commission, the independent Australian authority responsible in particular for setting the minimum wage, announced on 28 May a national minimum wage increase of 5.97% as of 1 July 2026. It will be set at 1,004.90 Australian dollars per week (612 euros), equivalent to 16.09 euros per hour. The authority also decided on a 4.75% increase in industry minimum rates, which are higher than the minimum wage and affect 21.8% of Australians.
