Australia: two weeks’ paternity leave for fathers

Provisions supervising the right to paternity leave.  From January 1, 2013 on, fathers/partners will be able to take advantage of their paternity rights within 12 months following the birth/adoption.  For two weeks, they will receive financial support allowing them to take time to help the mothers in their new role.  It will also be a way for new fathers to be involved in their child’s life early and make a connection with him/her.  Compensation will only be paid when the fathers effectively stop working for 2 weeks.
