Belgium: a bill to open up boards of directors to women

Socialist deputy Veronica Ghenne has submitted a bill, at the beginning of November, with five of her colleagues, with a view to setting up quotas in order to increase female presence at this level. These organs should not have more than two thirds of men or women. This text is likely not to be adopted, but it shows a strengthening of the support for more coercive measures on this issue. Veronica Ghenne underlines that 53% of Belgian students in the higher education are women and that they account for only 32.9% of executive positions, 7% of the most strategic positions and 5.8 % of directorates’ members.
