The news. On 12 June, the Belgian Council of Ministers approved a preliminary draft bill aimed at improving the financing of the Asbestos Fund, which is currently funded equally by the state and companies in the sector. The draft legislation also seeks to strengthen victims’ rights. It would allow any person who develops an illness as a result of asbestos exposure (or their beneficiaries) to sue the responsible company and seek compensation in addition to the payments received from the Asbestos
