Belgium: government takes measures for some categories of jobseekers

Restructuring card.  A royal decree extends the “restructuring” card to workers laid off because of bankruptcy, company closure or liquidation.  The extension of the system was included in the anticrisis measures and was supposed to end in January 2011.  However, since July 1st, the government has decided to maintain it.  Thus, the people concerned may withdraw this card at their unemployment office, giving them entitlement to reduce social, employers and individual contributions when they are hired at a new job.  The reduction amounts to €1,000 per quarter for at least 5 quarters for employers and to €133 a month for three quarters for employees.  These measures apply to workers under 30 whose gross income doesn’t exceed €2,010 gross a month and to those over 30 whose monthly income doesn’t exceed €4,000 gross.
