Belgium: the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions demands the transposition of the « information-consultation» directive

« Today, the government is exactly 532 days late for the implementation of the European directive which gives workers a right to information and consultation », reports the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (CSC). The matter has been referred to The Court of justice on July 20th, 2006. (Ref 06862)

The European directive 2002/14 of March 11th, 2002 requires all Member States to provide rights to information and consultation for workers in all companies. This directive applies, according to the choice of each Member State, to firms with at least 50 workers or to establishments employing at least 20 workers. « Belgium must react, underlines the CSC, because we have no right to socioeconomic information in firms with less than 100 workers, nor a right to consultation ».
