On 5 May, the TUC published a worrying study on the negative impact that Brexit appears set to have on working rights of workers in Europe (see article n° 10192). Is the view put forward by the trade union centre excessively alarmist or is it in fact an accurate prediction? Elena Crasta answers our questions.
What do you think should be taken from this report ?
Elena Crasta: The aim of the study is to show that a move towards deregulation in the United Kingdom could have negative consequences for Europe as a whole. While it would certainly not lead to unfair competition for high-level and high-productivity jobs, this would be the case for low-skill, low productivity jobs, particularly in the service sector.
