Bulgaria : the application of current conditions for early retirement will last till the end of 2017

The draft law suggested by MPs from the socialist party (still in power) was approved at the “first reading” by the Parliamentarian Committee on Labor and Social Policy last week. The document envisages the preservation of existing early retirement rules till the end of 2017.

Current provisions. The Social Security Code regulates the following early retirement requirements for people working in unfavorable and risky for the health working conditions:

(i) length of work in such conditions: 10 years for labor category I and 15 years – for labor category II;

(ii) pension age: for category I – 47 years and 8 months (woman), 52 years and 8 months (man); for category II – 52 years and 8 months (woman), 57 years and 8 months (man);

(iii) age + years of insured period: 94 (
