Living wage still struggles to align with social dialogue (study)

As part of its summer school on social dialogue, the ILO commissioned a study on the living wage. This concept, which takes workers' needs into account when determining wage levels and which major companies are increasingly incorporating into their practices, is struggling to find its place in social dialogue. However, it could serve as a leverage point to complement and extend discussions on remuneration.

In 2024, the ILO adopted a definition of the living wage for the first time: remuneration that ensures a decent standard of living for workers and their families, taking into account the country’s economic circumstances.
