Denmark: an operation to seduce youngsters of foreign origin

The Confederation of Danish industries (Dansk Industri, DI) and the ministry of Integration launched a campaign this week to encourage young persons of foreign origin to work in the industrial sector, which is experiencing severe labor shortages. Visits of firms and exchanges with the personnel aim at changing pupils' opinion on the sector. (Ref 06893)

The campaign « In the firm’s world » targets the secondary schools which have more than 50 % of pupils of foreign origin. Lise Thomsen, in charge of integration issues at Dansk Industri and Ann Berglund, consultant at the ministry of Incorporation, both in charge of the program, have found 40 such schools in the country. « They contact only the young persons of foreign origin who are terminating secondary studies, because they have much more difficulties than native Danes to integrate the labo
