EU: interview of Martin Warren, Head of Employment Law, Eversheds LLP UK, about the EWC recast Directive

It is supposed to benefit employees and businesses by increasing dialogue without delaying vital decisions, but there must be serious concerns about whether this rushed legislation is fit for purpose. For example, the drafting of some of the recast content lacks certainty and, at times, is contradictory. Such uncertainty will undermine efforts to improve social dialogue. In addition, social dialogue works best in an atmosphere of respect and trust and it is questionable how far Directives can achieve that.
