Members of the European Parliament have called for a directive on algorithmic management. Such legislation would introduce obligations for companies to inform employees, assess health and safety risks, and ensure human oversight of decisions affecting workers.
On 17 December, MEPs adopted by 451 votes to 45 a legislative initiative report – submitted in July to the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs – on algorithmic management. The report calls for the “gaps” in the AI regulation in this area, particularly with regard to working conditions, to be filled by a dedicated directive.
