EU : negotiations on the revision of the working time directive under pressure

The informal meeting on October 26 at which the Spanish, French, British, Polish, Portuguese, German and Italian labour ministers discussed the latest version of the compromise presented by the Finnish presidency led to no concrete commitment to support it and their attitude was reserved. The compromise significantly modifies the previous text (see article n° 061023) concerning the possibility of concurrently using opt-out with another flexibility measure, introduced in the framework of the negotiations and based on the following balance:
