The revised EWC directive was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on May 16. The Member States have to transpose the new directive at the latest on June 5, 2011 and businesses have until this date to sign derogatory agreements or to adjust their agreements where appropriate. This new directive will come into force on June 5, 2009 and, consequently, repeals the 1994 directive as of June 6.
