The European Commission has adopted new provisions to make the posting of workers fairer, more transparent, and more secure. On 08 March 2016, less than a year and a half since the European Executive adopted the implementation directive, it presented a ‘targeted revision’ of the 1996 rules. The text primarily puts forward measures aimed at closing an observed wage gap between local and posted workers.
Background: regulations that do not hinder social dumping. The concept of posted workers covers all workers temporarily employed in a Member State other than the one in which they regularly work, in order to provide a defined service. Directive 96/71 regulates these situations and certain provisions were clarified in Directive 2014/67 (c.f. article no. 8419).
