EU: the EMF published a comparative note on national legislations about setting up special negotiating bodies

The European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF) developed a comparative note with 30 national legislations transposing the directive 94/45 on European works' councils regarding the introduction of the special negotiating body (SNB) for the establishment of a EWC. (Ref. 071017)

Article 5 of Directive 94/45 concerning the establishment of a SNB to negotiate the establishment of a EWC left to Member States the care to determine the way SNG members will be appointed/elected. This disposition gave rise to the introduction of very different national rules. However, trying to systematize, the EMF’s study lists those national dispositions under three categories:
