A Digital Single Market is one of the EU Commission’s cornerstone projects. The project will enable the EU to take full advantage of what the digital world has to offer and it is well on track. In an announcement on May 06, the EU Commission set out 16 initiatives built upon 3 pillars. Issues surrounding how to adapt current competencies were vaguely touched upon and the announcement made mention of forthcoming initiatives on digital skills via both education and training. A Commission working document accompanying today’s announcement gives an overview of Eu workforce level of digital competency.
A set of targeted actions. The Commission will propose harmonised EU rules on contracts and consumer protection, enforce more efficient and affordable parcel delivery and unjustified geo-blocking. It also plans to adopte legislative proposals to reduce the differences between national copyright regimes and to reduce the administrative burden businesses face from different VAT regimes.
