Urged by the European economic and social committee, the European Parliament and trade unions, the European Commission should launch, before the end of the year, a second consultation of European social partners on the revision of the directive on European works councils. The slight chances of seeing social partners take hold of the topic should lead the Commission to present a directive bill in 2008. (Ref. 070807)
