EU: UNI Commerce Global Union forms a Tesco Alliance

The global trade union federation UNI Commerce has decided to establish a world-wide Tesco Alliance. The Alliance will network affiliated commerce unions in all countries where the company is present, to ensure that fundamental workers' and trade union rights are respected by management, and to promote social dialogue and collective agreements. Uni Commerce Global Union has announced the establishment of a global “alliance” within the UK multinational Tesco, one of the world’s top and most expansive retailers. Tesco, which is the market’s leader in the UK, has solid implantations in Ireland, Central and Eastern Europe, and now in Turkey and a number of Asian countries. Next year, the world’s fourth largest trader will open shop in the United States as well.
