Whereas announcements of partial unemployment are increasingly numerous, especially in the auto sector, the French social partners gathered against a background of economic crisis on December 15 to renegotiate the increase of compensation rates and the amount of minimum allowance for partial unemployment. On November 25, 2008, as part of the plan for economic revival, the President of the French Republic called on the social partners to renegotiate without delay the compensation requirements for partial unemployment, which required amending the national interprofessional agreement of February 21, 1968.
